The quality of urban areas is central to health. Clean air, green areas, sustainable agricultural systems, quality food, access to high-end health services are just few of essential needs for a healthy urban lifestyle and a personal physical and mental well-being. The COVID-19 pandemic has further showed how important these conditions are to ensure long-term safety of their inhabitants and biotopes, cities’ natural and agroecological systems.
How do cities cater for human and ecosystem’s health and well-being? What planning instruments are necessary to protect and strengthen individual’s and community’s well-being? The 2021 edition of the Masterstudio Future Cities will address these questions. Please check the program for info on how to register. The studio is part of the Master’s program in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Amsterdam but it is open to a (limited) number of external participants.
